The Sundarbans is a network of marine streams, mud shores and mangrove forests located in West Bengal India and Khulna Division, Bangladesh. The Sinking Sundarbans islands crisis is one that needs the world's immediate attention. Although millions living in Sundarbans islands are equally at risk when compared to the vanishing coastlines due to the rising seas in the Pacific Ocean, namely Tuvalu, Kiribati and Fiji, there isn’t much alertness upon action in this case.
"Sundarbans cluster consists of 102 islands, out of which 54 are inhabited. Some of these islands — Bedford, Lohachara, Kabasgadi and Suparibhanga — have already sunk into the sea. Other like Ghoramara and Mousuni, which are thickly populated, are rapidly losing land; and it’s just a matter of time when they too will be lost." - thethirdpole.net
